Classic pose from his record-breaking year....I think his 56-game hitting streak will stand for all time.

This ain't a baseball card but still a nice photo, you wont find many photos of Joe playing first because he only played first base once.

A nice locker room image after the game. Taken by one of the best in Wm. Greene.

This isn't a card (and not even baseball) but it does feature Joe doing one of his off the field hobbies. This was a magazine my Dad saved from when he was a kid (I wish he saved all those Goudeys he collected!) and I had autographed about 15 years ago at a show here in Chicago.
When it was my turn for to meet Joe he wasn't too happy when I first presented him a picture of him and Ted Williams that I already had Ted sign. He almost didn't sign it and said something to the effect of "I told him not to sign these pictures anymore"....but he did. I then gave him this magazine and his face lit up and the mood changed. He said something like "Wow...I used to do this a long time ago (meaning model trains)". He was very nice about this and shook my hand. Sorry for the long post. |
