Let the Conservatives and Liberals, the slabheads and the anti-plastic purists, the Yankees fans and Red Sox Nation put aside our differences today, let us celebrate the founding of our wonderful homeland. Have a Happy, Safe and Insane Fourth of July, my baseball brothers.
![]() PS. Happy belated Canada Day to all my friends and rellies in the Great White North. You've got a heckuva great country, too. ![]()

We can argue and squabble and end up happy again because of all of those that have served in the armed forces to keep us free. They have given us the best nation on Earth. Happy 4th of July... Amen.....

Boston's beloved rabble disembark the North End on an early wednesday morning in April, 1775. An hour of rowing before the Ride begins. ![]() |

Some July 4th photos taken in Brooklyn Heights, and a little bit of Americana...
The first is at the stanchion of the Brooklyn Bridge (it's not for sale). The second and third were taken on Middagh Street, near the northern tip of Brooklyn. The farther north you go, the older the settlement. The homes pictured here are from the Federalist period, and were built in the 1820's. How many 180+ year old buildings are still around? |

Things are looking up for the old borrough of Brooklyn. The view of Roebling's baby from the Seaport is stunning. It's gonna be a sad day when they "improve" that district in Manhattan though.

Steve- that photo was taken maybe fifty yards from the Bridge, in a newly built park. People are sunbathing with the Bridge in the background. It's pretty awesome.
