Thought I'd save some others the time. I emailed the seller what the reserve was and this was the reply: "reserve is 65,000 for the 380 cards, 30 photos, and 6 signatures. The owner is listening to offers Above 50,000. Most of the 1934 goudey as well as about 30 percent of the 1933 Goudey are really nice cards that would grade 6 to 8 if removed from the paper cleanly. 2 of the Ruths are really nice, 2 are midgrade and 1 is probably a 3 or 4. The 1934 Goudey Gehrig is a beauty." |

I might have missed something but a quick glance showed me no cards that would be an 8 if, and that is a big IF, there were no back damage in removing them.

He included a link. It's at the very top of the message area, directly above the paragraph he wrote.

Is this guy a member of Net 54? Based on his pricing he'd fit right in here! Let me guess -- he bought it for 30K and now thinks it's worth 65K?

Anyone know what those big cut outs are? There's one of Ruth and another of a pitcher, maybe Hubbel?

In the spirit of unrealistic pricing, this newly listed gem just shot past the Goudeys (see link).

Not to sidetrack too much the original topic of discussion, but I like how the original owner grouped most of the pages of cards...a page of head shots, batting poses, etc.

I don't see a single goudey that would grade out better than a psa 5, most 2-3's. Good luck with that $50,000+ I think they added an extra zero.

More like: "Let me guess -- he bought it for 30K a month ago and now thinks it's worth 65K?"

If he bought it for $30K, he overpaid by about three times the true value.
But worst of all, after you pay $50k-$65K to own this piece, you have to GO TO SYRACUSE TO PICK IT UP! Talk about adding insult to injury. ![]() |

He sold 300 items in 7 years and he's a Powerseller?

Agree, I see nothing in there higher than a 5 and that's assuming they can be pulled out of the album. I think this is a very cool item and I'm sure we'd all like to own it, but it ruins it when someone has such unrealistic price expectations.

Unfortunately for the seller Goudey's are kinda tough to soak, so there is no guarantees that these will soak out well. Many cards of that era have the backs printed directly on the cardboard stock, however, Goudey's have a thin layer that was applied to the backs that included the printing (that thin layer is often easily damaged when removing glue, scrapbook paper, etc. from the backs.)

To become a Power Seller you have to sell $3k worth of items over three months, then you have to keep up a monthly average of $1k. There is a way to become one with volume, but many sellers nowadays get there through dollars. From a sellers point of view its worth it as you get discounts on your Final Value Fees.
