As a kid growing up in the 1950's, it was just not enough collecting Bowman's, Leaf's, and Topps BB cards.....I had to have more.
So, I would create my own BB cards. Either drawing them on cardboard, or like this one....cutting out interesting bits of BB trivia from the sports section in our newspaper and pasting them on cardboard. ![]() So, was I the only "nut" doing this as a kid, or did any of you create your own BB cards ? Or, any other such similar creative pastimes ? If so, do tell us...... Now, if I submit this "card" for grading....what are the chances that it will be rejected due to "evidence of trimming".... ![]() T-Rex TED |

Thats really cool Ted. When I was a kid I found a book at a garage sale full of nice black and white photos. I tore the pages out and glued the photos to cardboard and then cut out the images and hung them from a hanger, I guess it was an all-star baseball mobile. The Brooks Robinson was the coolest he was diving for a ball and it looked like he was flying through the air.

Home made baseball cards? Who would think of such a thing?

![]() T-Rex TED[/QUOTE] I guess this would depend on which company graded your card. ![]() Neat cards though. Maybe Trae will post his T206 card Jantz Last edited by Jantz; 06-04-2009 at 09:17 PM. Reason: Edited because I guess I had more to say. |

I've been trying to duct tape Orlando Cepeda to a large rectangular piece of cardboard for years, but he's surprisingly quick.

Thanks, Jantz, here it is, although I've never printed it, so it's only virtual.
![]() I'm not sure that I would ever print it, especially as Max's card is tough to compete with - that's simply amazing! Nicely done. I'm almost embarrassed to share this next one. ![]() ![]() |

This card is part of a SABR effort detailed in the Feb. 2009 Inside Game (SABR's Deaball Era Committee newsletter - card below reproduced directly from that issue). Cards for hundreds of players have been made, with an intent to someday distribute them to SABR members. Unfortunately, even though the effort is non-profit, it is for now stuck because of very complex MLB - baseball card rights issues. Hopefully this can be eventually resolved.
I can tell you they are very professionally produced and are awesome. ![]() ![]() |
