The last one was getting rather long and taking a long time to load.
I BINed this today on ebay. It's the "one L" Hartsell variation which is very tough. If the Cash Back 25% discount I applied for works it will be an even greater bargain.
Also pictured is the "infamous" 1911 Zeenut Bernard.

Thanks. Down to a half dozen to go to complete the whole thing. No Wagner, of course, but everything else. Most, except for the HOFers, Magie, Demmitt, O'Hara, Elberfeld, etc. ungraded. Think I'll keep 'em that way. And in safe deposit. Think I'll keep 'em that way too.

thanks jim, the grade i could care less about, the surface of this card close up is stunning, the whole card really, amazing that better ones exist........steve- that is the best lou g. i have seen in 15 years, when i seen it i had to get it, clean back no creases or wrinkles, just a strong example, glad to have it.

Thanks for posting the scan of the Hack Wilson. I was searching for that card for over 5 years and never even saw a scan of one and wasn't sure it even existed. That Giants team set is so much tougher to find than the Yankees & Dodgers that it isn't even funny. Earlier this year, I picked up a 1922 Martinsville Hack Wilson P/C which thankfully ended by search for the W504.

Great pick-up!!!

I was able to add three more to the HOF backs line up in the past couple weeks. I hated to add a beater Drum, but will never have the funds to get a nice HOFer and I was able to get this one at an awesome price. The BL and the Drum were two big ones for me. Carolina and Cycle left to go on the basic line. Thanks go out to Toby and Craig for contributing to these two cards in different ways.
The Matty is from the Goodwin auction.

Wow, Bob, that has to be the nicest SGC 20 Matty T206 portrait I've ever seen (at least the front of it anyway), and the fact that it is a Hindu is an added bonus! Nice pickup!

Rhett, I'm pretty sure the 1922 date for the Wm. Patterson set is wrong. Jackson had played only 2 or 3 games by 1922. It could be earlier than W504, but I don't think 1922 is right.

That's an interesting point regarding the William Paterson Travis Jackson card. Every source I have read lists the William Paterson set as 1922 but actually prior to 1923, Travis Jackson played only 3 Major League games and then only played the equivalent of half a season in 1923. You would think when a 50-card set was produced, even if it was sometime during 1923, there would be better players to choose from than someone who had played less than half a season of Major League ball. Any other opinions???

I just took a quick glance at the players in the set, and I gotta agree the 1922 date is totally wrong. I assume Jack Bentley is listed for the NY Giants (as he was a big signee for them in 1923), and he didn't start playing with them until 1923, so that would make the set 1923 at the earliest, possibly 1924. Regardless, it would still be Jackson's first card, but someone with some time on their hands and a listing of teams for the players could pinpoint the set a little better, but I believe it is at earliest a 1923 production. As the date of Paterson's 2 Hockey card sets (V145) are 1923-24 and 1924-25, and these baseball cards are more similar in style to the wider V145-1 set I would guess the set produced in one of those 2 years.

Measures 8x10 on glossy paper, back is blank...


Thought this one might be wire photo, but its not on glossy paper so I have no clue. Measures 5x7 and back notation is in fountain pen...

I'm not sure who manufactored this PC. It isn't listed in the Sports Postcard catalog that I have. The interesting thing about this PC is that it was mailed from Brookings SD on Dec 10, 1913, then someone put an 8 cent stamp on the card and mailed in again from Sycamore IL in 1971. The pennant is felt and is attached to the pc.

Why do postcard sellers always write the price on the postcards?

John E, I can't tell you what the Walter Johnson photo is, but I can see a Louis Van Oeyen stamp on the back of the Donovan which makes it a desirable photo.

reverse concern me. Not a lot of experience with grading T205's.
