Seeing that book reminded me that I found a bunch of 1981 Fleer error cards in my dupes box the other day. If anyone is still looking for any of them, either error or corrected, let me know.

I still love the 1981 Donruss for all the views of Wrigley Field!

In case the text is too small to read, here's a sampling:

Bowman
1948-49 $1.00 each
1953 color .50 each / B&W .75 each (how about that? B&W more!)
1955 .40 each

"1910 Baseball Cards, limited supply, players such as Mathewson, Tinker, Chance, Cobb, etc. $1.50 each.

1964 Topps StandUps - 77 cards for $6.00 / .10 apiece. "Very rare cards: Mantle, Mays, Spahn, Koufax, .30 each.

One thing I'm not sure of: 1956 Topps Buttons and Coins, Our selection - 5 for .25. What are 1956 coins?

I think the coins part was a mistake- Topps issue cards, stamps, doubleheaders and pins. And possibly the hocus pocus set, although that may be have '54 or '55.
The only coins from that year were Armours, I believe.

Going through the garage last week I came across eight vending boxes of 1981 Fleer (1-4, 2 each). I didn't know what to do with them either, so I left them right where they were.

Cover, and a young Keith O. Looks to me like his high school yearbook photograph. I hope he's still not wearing that coat! Still has the sheet of sample cards -- best two are Berra as a Mets' manager and Gaylord Perry. Honus ad is priceless, so to speak.

I still have the Pete Rose price guide - that was what started me into the hobby after college (and digging out my childhood collection). I also have the OJ one with the card intact, but we don't talk about that.

The oldest monthly price guide I have is a July 1983 CPU (Card Prices Update).

Paul, that Collector's Quarterly really took me back to when I first started collecting cards as a kid. I completely forgot about it but I bought that magazine when it was first issued.

Paul, thanks for taking the trouble to post those poems. Much appreciated.

It's really not much of a story. Around the time the magazine came out I became friends w/Joel Oppenheimer's son, Nat, although it would be a while before I realized the connection between him and poems.

The family had some neat memorabilia including some seats from the original Yankee Stadium.
