crack that sucka out! and send it off to SGC...i've done it with several of my cards from PSA and never once got a lesser grade...that card is very nice and i'm sure it would receive a 40/3 from them...

Was this card already rejected by SGC by any chance?

...that this card has perhaps already been rejected by SGC. Otherwise, you don't even need to crack it out. I've had very good results sending PSA cards to SGC in their cases. It will cost you $7 for the crossover, plus shipping. No big deal.

What leads you guys to the conclusion that this card may have been rejected (other than the nominal cost to just have it crossover)? Is the bottom trimmed? Just trying to learn something here from the experts...thanks.

it has not been submitted to nor reviewed by SGC. (My, what a suspicious bunch). I was under the impression that SGC did not do cross overs for cards valued at more than $500.00. Maybe I'm a bit over optomistic but I thought the card was worth more than $500.00. Maybe not.

So, I'll just bite my lip and keep peace.

Hey Steve,

I wasnt trying to imply that you had done anything wrong. The card looks a little short and that is why I was wondering. As far as sgc not crossing cards valued greater than 500, that is true. However, the value assigned to the card is by you - in other words, sgc goes by what you claim to be the value of the card (as long as you arent valuing a super rare or expensive card at 500 they will accept your valuation). I think that card is close enough to 500 that if you claimed 500 as its value, they wouldnt have any problem crossing it.

i believe that figure is right for NOT crossing over...$500 thats why i mentioned crackin' out...i dont see the reason for SGC having a set limit on value to not cross over...maybe you can try a cross over at a show.

I believe SGC set the cross-over value at $500 because they charge more to grade more valuable cards, and they do not want people to take advantage of the lower cross-over fees for high dollar cards. Seems fair to me -- the SGC guarantee is quite limited, but in theory SGC has increased liability from misgrading expensive material, which justifies the higher fees.

Steve: since it is close on value, you might email SGC and see if they will take this card at the cross-over pricing. I suspect SGC would be glad to have another T206 Mathewson portrait in their holder, and one less in the competition's slab.

Yes, perhaps, but I guess I just didn't understand why you wanted to trade the card for another of the same card just to improve the holder because SGC will be very nice to your PSA 3 Matty and put it in an SGC holder for a nominal charge. Just easier and, if you like the card, you get to keep it in the family.

I wasn't suggesting you were doing anything wrong, by the way. If people really like PSA, they should have no problem taking it off your hands even if SGC rejected it.
