Bruce, your PSA labelled big C is actually a small C. You can tell by the bottom left of the C's angle. I am shocked that the experts at PSA made a mistake. They must be right and I am mistaking.

Which one's tougher?

I have little c and have always heard the big c was easier, but haven't been able to locate that many.

I think they are both about the same in toughness. Actually all 3 including the A seem about the same when I collected the set. Tim Newcomb did a study and would probably be best to answer this.

You may be right, it was probably enough of a nightmare for him doing it without the variations. Bill Cornell and Alan Sasoon also put sets together and may be able to chime in on the order of the 3 Livingstons. I only ever put the one set together, I think Alan has done it a few times. Dan.

I've put the set together 3 times (includes the one presently in my collection and two I sold through Mastro and private sale).
I found the small C easiest, A in the middle, and big C the toughest. That was just my experience....

One might hope that the grading companies would keep reference scans of certain cards, such as these two which are easily confused, in a handy location in their workspace. That way the next time a T206 "Wagner, Boston" comes across their desk they can have a quick reference guide available to determine if the player depicted is Heinie or Honus.

You have to wonder why the T207 makers thought it was necessary to change the size of the "C" on the Livingston card. This was not a case of a mispelled name, a team change, or a misidentified player, all of which produced changes midway through the production runs of various issues.

Bruce, I would assume it would be to reflect uniform changes that happened during the print run? But then that begs the question of why other Cleveland players don't have the same variation.

Sorry to revive an old thread, but this seems to be a real problem for people.

There's two livingston small c cards on ebay both labled as Big C.

Not sure Richard M. if you posted the scan of the big c in this thread, but if so can you post it again? Or anyone else?

I still don't have a scan of the actual big c card.
