That strip card of Harry Hooper is a W514 (issued in 1919). Hooper was with Boston (AL) in those years. |

That is right, Dave. Cancelled from back when they did perforated cancelling. I bought that several years ago, with the hope that Joe would make it into the Hall one day. That day has yet to come. And I figure his best chance has gone. |

Amazingly Frank, my bank does not even have copies of most of the cancelled checks cashed against my account anymore; more often it's just a line entry and there is no image or anything shown on my (online) statement. There will not be treasure troves of cancelled checks discovered 70 years from now for todays athletes. |

I am Hooperless but have plenty of SJ Wood items. For the one or two guys left in the world who haven't seen my autographed M116 it's over at Paul M.'s site. The Horner cabinet was auctioned by Mastro last spring. I was not the lucky winner. Anybody know if there are any more out there? The TSN Wood is not technically a card, but you guys are cool with that, right? Also posted is a photo of the Yale baseball team, circa 1930, Coach Joe Wood, at end left, back row. |
