No question - I have yet to sell a card - I do have some duplicates I would like to get rid of, just haven't gotten around to it as yet. |

Nope...I wish I did though! It seems like I always have some unexpected expense pop up and the cards have to make up for it. |

I think it's fairly close....The first 6-7 yrs I collected I almost never sold anything...then the last 3-4 I have bought and sold quite a bit. I still rarely sell anything out of my personal collection....maybe about 2-3 things a yr....when I upgrade or see something else I want more....I almost never sell anything (except 1 time) when I don't have a dupe....What I sold was for an amount that I couldn't say no to....regahds |

Rich people and pack-rats keep a lot more than they sell. Poor folks and people who can't make up their mind keep their collections in a constant state of recycling. |

I would be worth minimally 5-7 million dollars if I had all the cards sold at one time I had. Those who say yes, they are the ones with the money. A December auction is always geared for the wealthy, the rest buy Christmas gifts for their families and only wish they could buy cards. Another business venture in the near future and I finnah be rollin wit the big homies in the hobby |

Don't have to do a count. Have never sold a card. Hardly rollin' in it, either. Just limit the scope of what I collect and stay within my financial limitations, however painful that may be. And it can be painful |

I've sold more than I've bought, I enjoy the buying and selling process. Like many, the chase is what does it for me. With the exception of a few cards that I'll never sell, the ones I have now are still part of a larger chase. |

I have probably sold around 800 t-cards and have in my collection around 900 T206s and 200 T205s. I am in the process of finishing the T206 set and am over 2/3s of the way on the T205 set. So pretty soon, I will have sold more than I own. I have never sold a N card, E card, M card or strip. |

I sold a few thousand cards when I was twelve in so that I could buy my first pair of roller skates. I now own fewer than 500 cards so it will be a while (if ever) before I have more than I've sold. |

Maybe a few years ago I would say yes, but money has been tight this year and sold much of what I collected the last 3 years or so. I would also consider what I have in inventory part of my collection until the card is sold. Over the last 10 years I would say I have sold more than I have owned |

I do the same as Joe D., sell alot to build my collection, and so that I can afford those higher priced, harder to find issues. |

Pre War - YES. I have not sold any pre war cards.. just bought. Total cards - no. I have a butt load of modern cards but have sold a crap load of modern cards.. by my math, a crap load is more than a butt load.. martyOgelvie nyyankeecards.com |

I'm down to a core collection of about 350 keepers with another 350 or so that I will eventually sell or trade off. At one time I had over 2,000 T206 and am now down to less than 150 so I guess is the answer is is "no" as I have sold off more than I now own. |

I couldn't estimate the ratio, but I've definitely sold more than I now own. As a few others have said, the buying/selling/trading aspect of collecting is at least as fun for me as the hoarding aspect. And hoarding probably carries too much of a negative connotation, but you know what I mean. I've got a few cards that I'd be reluctant to part with, but given the right opportunity, I'd say it's all negotiable. |

more than I currently own in terms of # of cards. In terms of dollar value of cards, I have sold WAY more than I currently own and like Dan Koteles, I wish I still had some of 'em................but I wouldn't trade where I am now for where I was then for any amount of money........ |

because of the wide disparity in value between postwar cards (especially post 1980) and the value of prewar cards. I once sold something like 10,000 crappy modern cards at a garage sale for $20, so I've definitely sold more cards than I own, but the measure is meaningless as a result of the disparity in values. A more salient question would be whether you've sold more in value than you currently own. |
