I thought perhaps some of you Old Judge Guys would get a kick out of this letter and since I will only be owning it for one more day I thought I would post it. It is from 1889 and was written to an East Coast player from Norris O'Niell of the Oakland club telling how great it is to be a Ballplayer in California. O'Niell has a PCL Old Judge Card. If anyone has a scan of the card that would be great. Companion pieces like this have always interested me. |

I'm guessing that came from a lot of letters that mysteriously ended early about a week ago on ebay. An Oakland envelope was showing one image, but the letter did not appear specifically. Very cool letter. Too bad everyone didn't get a shot at it. The seller had no idea how valuable the letters were, and I would guess that the buyer got it at an excellent price. Oh well. That seems to be the way that ebay works these days (as was concluded in another thread). |
