Interesting that Huggins and Scott in their auction catalogue refer to the violet Speaker as the second toughest in the set. I assume they are talking about the toughness of the violet color but it begs the question what is the toughest color in the set? The natural reply would be "gold" (of course the orange variation has not yet been recognized by any publication or registry) but it has been my experience that you could make a case for both the olive green or the forest green. I will say that the toughest color to collect in high grade, hands down IMO, (for some bizarre reason), is the olive green. For those few collectors who insist on calling the olive green the darker of the two shades I am referring to the lighter shade green. |
