Jim has pulled back quite a bit and sold a good chunk of his stuff over the last year+ through Mastro.
Bruce has come over and has posted 3 or 4 times; mostly on the BST. Last edited by Matt; 07-14-2009 at 03:01 PM. |

Bruces have made a few posts over here but seem to be laying low.
Julie Vognar retired from cards I think. Gilbert Maines posts over at Full Count sometimes. Jim Clarke (right) at Chicago National, alive and well as of 2008. Whatever happened to E-Daniel? Runscott? Jim Crandall? That Sean kid?

I'll throw Wade Carsel's name out there as well. I know he was a non-sport guy but I always enjoyed dealing with him at Philly and Strongsville. Haven't seen him in a while, though.

at one time, Hal Lewis had posted an image of a Broadleaf 460 backed t206 of Vic Willis in a thread. It was a beater. Just moments ago, someone posted a SGC 40 of the card, with a Broadleaf 460 back and I thought of Hal's, and how he hasn't been on the board for some time.
Is an SGC 40 of a HoFer with a BL460 back really worth a minimum bid of $17,000? |

I seem to recall Julie posting one of her typically cryptic posts to the old Net54 forum at some point in the last year.

Jim Crandall has been posting on the Non-Sport board (but warned that he would leave if Tom ever went "high-tech.)
As Matt said, Bruce has posted on the BST, but seems to be avoiding posting on the main board. Gil has dropped off the face of this board and the Non-Sport board. If I remember correctly, wasn't Hal selling off much or all of his collection? I know he moved his T206 Wagner. Edited to add: OK. Starting to get a little concerned about Gil. Just sent him an email at the address he's had for a couple of years and it was bounced. The Mailer Daemon says his "user account is over quota." Edit #2: Just checked his account. He has not posted on the Full Count board since 5/15/2009. Last edited by Jim VB; 07-14-2009 at 04:04 PM. |

Some fairly prominent players on the forum in years past have been nowhere to be seen over the last few years. I didn't understand half of what Julie ever posted but she is missed. Scott came back on the forum recently and stated he was gonna get back in the swing of things but I haven't seen him since. I also haven't seen Trevor or Joe Jones on here for a while, though I'm sure they are both doing fine.
-Rhett Also, what ever happened to that "autograf" guy?, he used to always outbid me on the good hidden stuff on ebay. ![]()

Hey Rhett,
I am still here, happy and collecting. I check out this board everyday, it's very hard to stay away. I just don't post anymore because the state of this board and the hobby, it's just so gloom and doom and I really don't want to respond to or add fuel to the fire per say. I think the new site is very nice (great job Leon and crew!!) I still think that baseball and baseball card collecting is a great hobby. I am still working on quite a few sets including my Colgans :-) but most of the cards have dried up as they usually do when a recession hits. I too miss a lot of the old names posting including Zach and Donald. I hope all are doing well. I do try to go to the chat from time to time. I hope to post more soon. All the Best, Trevor Hocking |

One of the first whales I bumped against on ebay when I started actively pursuing caramel cards was Mike Schwartz (sp?) (no relation to Greg) whose ebay id was vendomecat. I forget his ebay id but he was always a master sniper back before everyone was sniping. He must have had a helluva collection of prewar cards judging from what he was buying and I believe he had one of the best T213 Coupon and Victory cards collections around, possibly because he was from Louisiana (New Orleans). Someone mentioned that perhaps his restaurant ventures might have had some problems and he was selling off his collection. I hope not.
Another guy on ebay who was a real go-getter was muskycaptain, who later was also a seller of prewar cards and seemed to have acquired some really nice cards. I can't remember his name (Pete?) but he was from Michigan I believe and a retired fishing captain, hence the name, I believe. I butted heads with him a lot and later bought cards from him when he started selling. Really nice guy. Also there is Alan (ockday) a really super guy who also had a terrific collection and when he bid against you, you lost. I think Alan is taking a respite from collecting and posting. That's a shame, he was one of my favorite compaderies. Finally there was beethoven14 on ebay who used to have a terrific inventory of prewar cards in great condition. I bought many cards from him, especially caramel cards in conditions that you rarely see anymore. He disappeared for a while and lately has sold some cards on ebay but it is obvious the once huge stock of prewar cards has been depleted. Last edited by tbob; 07-14-2009 at 10:08 PM. |

Can't forget Tim Sedlock who was death on E94s. Another guy who if you bid on something he needed, you lost. Tim moved either from the Midwest to Florida, or vice-versa and seems to have kept a low profile which is easy for him, being a very nice and quiet and unassuming guy. :-) I miss you Tim!

tbob,
Was Tim Sedlock's ebay ID "greengorillaz"? If so, I remember him. I'm not a regular poster, but I have been reading the board for many years. There does seem to be a new wave of posters as others have left. I have also wondered where some of the old posters have gone. Mike |

Thanks for the kid words, Jim, Brian, and Trevor. I've been overly-consumed with school this past year; it will likely get even more daunting as I start my sophomore year, this fall, as a student at The George Washington University.
I've tried to keep tabs on hobby issues but school has taken precedents, collecting cards is still an hobby I am ardent about, however. If anyone needs to contact me, feel free, my email is mzm55@mac.com See yea guys in Cleveland! Zach Rice |

I also remember Mike Schwartz (Vendomecat) and used to converse w/ him quite often. In addition to cards he had a tremendous collection of old, rare and eclectic paper ephemera.
I lost contact w/ him about the time of the Hurricane and he seemed to abruptly disappear from EBay at that time. He always said his restaurant business was doing well---My guess is the Hurricane devastated him and quite possibly his multimillion dollar collection but I don't know that for fact. He was a prince of a guy to talk w/ & deal with and I certainly hope he escaped w/ his collection intact, but I have my doubts.

Thanks for the kind words, guys. I really do appreciate it. I am indeed alive, well and still collecting - just not at the same pace I used to. It's probably some combination of family, career, apprehension in this economic climate, and eBay's declining appeal. I've never been a hyperactive poster and am probably even more of a lurker now, but do still regularly read the boards. I suppose I'll one day return to full-throttle collecting, but for now, less is more.
