I just picked up a 1906 postcard of the Columbus, OH team. The reverse of the postcard states that it is one of 16 Columbus Dispatch postcards. Has anyone else heard of this set? If so, could you post any examples you might have? One of my favorite hobby collectibles is postcard sets like Dietsche, 1919 Cincinnati, Gold medal Flour etc. |

These postcards were issued during 1906 and were available by redeeming a coupon found in the Columbus Dispatch. The Columbus Dispatch was and still is the largest newspaper in Columbus, Ohio. A total of 16 cards make up the set and only two are baseball related. The team image of the Columbus team is by far more common than the other image which depicts an in-progress game (Columbus vs. Toledo). The other 14 subjects are landmark buildings around Columbus and are commonly found. |

I live in Columbus (and work at The Dispatch, as a matter of fact) and see these quite often at antique shows, shops, etc. The one that Steve posted is the only one I've seen that's baseball related. If these were at all rare, I'd have already snooped around old storage closets, looking for a few unopen cases. But they're not, so I haven't. |

I read your post after I posted mine. This is completely anecdotal, but in the eight-plus years I've lived in Columbus, I guess I've seen the team photo for sale close to 20 times. Have never seen the in-action shot. For what it's worth. |

Here is the in action postcard from the set. As stated earlier, the other 14 subjects in the series are NOT baseball related. Likely, the team picture is seen more often as it is a much more interesting postcard and one would have been more likely to hold onto it. |

Thanks guys. I knew I could count on you! The info also explains why I got such a good "deal" on the card. |
