36 Wide Pen Questions

How do the R314-2 Wide pens with borders, compare in scarcity to the other two types of 36 wide pens? Prices have always seemed similar, has anyone ever noticed either of the 3 types being rarer than the others. I know they were distributed over the course of a couple years, but why the variation in styles ? And did the differing styles all come at once, or were they staggered as well? Just picked up a Foxx (so many questions)

Check out issue #7 of Old Cardboard by Tim Newcomb. He does a great job of describing the wide pens. Issue #6 also has info by Tim regarding the R313 set and its variations.

As far as scarcity, the 314B set is readily found but according to Tim is more scarce than the earlier wide pens.

The articles are definitely worth reading and I'm sure other posters will be more knowledgeable than myself and will chime in.
