If every collector on this board who likes graded cards say once, just once in unison, that Ted/Frank and any others who detest all things slabbed and all collectors not in for the 'true enjoyment' and 'deeper understanding' of cardboard, that such collectors are all nitwits who are luckey (sic |

Peter...Luckily slabbed or unslabbed isnt right wing left wing...so we can leave that subject out of this thread...correct? |

My point is that almost none of us make only intelligent, cogent, unbiased posts that never bother or offend anyone or strike others as "stupid." |

I am saying if you disagree with someone, either respond to them on the merits or ignore them, but don't presume to ask them to stop posting, or ask others to do so, or insult the moderator. |

That's absolutely true Peter, but when you become a one trick pony that complains about exactly the same thing (not in one thread, or two or three, but in dozens), over and over and over again......I would suggest that Ted and Frank's first 20-50 such comments were quietly digested and thought about, but the last 20-50 defy common decency. |

I guess I really don't give a rat's rearend about how others perceive my collecting habits; I collect in a manner that is most appealing to me. Daniel, why do you let comments about your collecting style affect you to the extent that it prompts a thread such as this one? If it bothers you that certain individuals are implying that you lack knowledge about cards (due to a preference for slabs), then prove them wrong by actively posting in threads that actually have something to do with cards (and maybe you do, I don't keep track). I am sure, based on the limited exchange that we have had via email, that you have knowledge to share. These types of posts only serve to divide and personalize the board. Most of us come here to learn, relax, and share information about vintage collecting. |

Wish I could find the off switch to hearing such critisicms, and am trying ......though haven't succeeded as well as I would hope. Were it once a month or so it would be alot easier to flip by, but seemingly every week the idea gets promoted about the daftness of grading and users of those services. And with considerable condecension in the writings. |

You have to have a pretty thick skin. The jibes we throw at each other here is nothing compared to what I get from friends and the love of my life. In my more rational moments, I'm sometimes overtaken by the absurdity of collecting not just cards, but anything. But...I still love to do it. I've learned to just not give a poot what anyone thinks. Which is just a long way of saying to ignore the bad stuff. It can't hurt you and life is better. (And yeah, I sometimes don't take my own advice, but I try!) |

"Depends upon what the meaning of the word is, is." Hasn't this issue run it's course ? Why don't we argue about something more relevant, like which ocean is saltier, the Pacific, or the Atlantic? |

Don't you think that's a bit overly dramatic? We are talking about BASEBALL CARDS. Who CARES if Frank or Ted or anyone else has a different view or even if they express it in insulting terms? Exchanges of ideas are a good thing, but what's the point of taking it personally? |
