I had never heard of an N173 Kelly portrait until I read about it on another thread today. Does anyone have a scan that they can post? If not, which N172 portrait does it share a picture with? |

There is no corresponding N172 pose. It features Kelly in street clothes. |

Wow, now I'd really like to see it. Are there any other N173 pictures not found in N172? I had thought there were none. |

Everyone assumed an N173 couldn't exist without a corresponding known N172, but this Kelly portrait disproves it. I can't think of any others, but there may be. |

Maybe there was an N172 Kelly in street clothes, but it is rarer than the N172 Anson in uniform and has never been found. |

Is it possible that someone could have removed a Kelly albumen photo from a cabinet mount and then added it to an N173 style mount later in time? |

Barry--There are many poses that are only known on N173s. Amongst the HOFers there is a Robinson pose and a Connor pose that only are known to exist on N173s. Is it possible that Kelly in street clothes exists as an N172--yes. However, if one has not been found to this point it is pretty unlikely. If I had to guess I would say that of the 2460 poses that currently are cataloged about 50 are only known on N173s. BTW, the Kelly in street clothes is very scarce. As far as I know only three copies are in collector's hands. |

Thanks for thd scan, David. That is a beautiful card. I've always been a fan of the light yellow border. I also like the N173s that have the large caption with a gap above the Old Judge name. So, from my perspective, this card has everything going for it. |
