Posted By: Brueso so let me get this straight- I was under the impression that PSA would encapsulate cards they suspected of trimming and give it an 'authentic' tag. But I spoke to someone at PSA and they said that they generally don't encapsulate trimmed cards? What causes them to give an "authentic" tag then? |

Posted By: JimB I have a couple of "Authentic" cards and both are printers proofs that were hand-cut, not trimmed with the intent of deception. But I thought that all 3 of the big grading companies would authenticate trimmed cards if that is what you ask for. They used to reserve that designation for premier cards like T206 Wagners, Cobb/Cobb back, etc., but I thought they had become a lot looser these days. |

Posted By: MVSNYC hi, i was just on the phone with PSA regarding a seperate matter, after i saw this post...so while speaking to them, i asked them about the "authentic" labeing, they said it is usually only reserved for special/rare cards (i.e. wagner, proofs, etc)...it has to be approved by Joe Orlando, and is a case by case decision. |

Posted By: JimB I have two E93 proofs and one T206. Drop me an e-mail if you want to discuss them. The E93s are authenticated by GAI and SGC. The T206 is authenticated by PSA. |

Posted By: Brueso well, some folks on here as I recall said they'd be more interested in a card if it has the AUT designation and is encapsulated so it was clear it wasn't colored, etc. But I guess if it just says "AUT", there won't be an explanation as to why they think it's AUT. Also, my personal preference is to have cards encapsulated, but I guess since I'm looking to sell them, my personal preference doesn't matter (and is probably a waste of $$). |

Posted By: Cobby33 I like the "AUT" designation, as it guarantees the card isn't a fake. |

Posted By: Gilbert Maines Id be satisfied with a Mike Wheat provenance coupled with an admission of trimming and the right price. These cards will sell right here, Id bet. |

Posted By: MINE'S MINT if one were to admit the cards were trimmed then id have no problem purchasing them raw.. the whole preference of having the authentic grade holder is so that i as a purchaser know that the card is in some way compromised.. protecting myself from a dealer who otherwise would not disclose the true condition of the card in question.. the reassurence of knowing that the card is authentic is a bonus but as stated above most people would know right away if the card was a fake.. so its more a question of integrity then authenticity.. the other nice thing about purchasing the card pre-slabbed is that the card is encapsulated and protected.. but thats a different issue.. |

Posted By: leon I sold a card over the weekend that I didn't think was trimmed, from my website. The board member asked me if there were any hidden issues. After combing over the two raw cards I told him I thought one was in fact trimmed and lowered the price substantially. The other one was fine except for a few light spider creases. He bought the trimmed one. I guess it's a utopian wish to think all, or most, dealers or flippers would do this? I know many do but my guess is that more don't than do... BTW, the trimming wasn't too bad but I didn't need a 3rd parties help to determine it.... It was raw and I compared it to others I had... |

Posted By: Brueso I opted to send them to SGC and indicate they should "AUT" any they deemed trimmed. In some cases it was somewhat obvious- in others not as much. I can't remember for sure which ones Wheat indicated upfront were trimmed. As I recall, I didn't get all of these from Wheat. They look to me like they all might have been trimmed. |

Posted By: jay behrens I'd say they all looked trimmed. Most have tell tale bat ears. Regardless, they are still outstanding looking cards. |
