Some of you know that about five months or so ago, I decided to start working on a nice W502 set. My goal was to build it in as nice condition as possible, which I thought would be moderately challenging but not impossible, due to the lack of popularity of this set. My impressions were that the 1928 ice cream cards were far more popular and in demand than the 502s, and so I'd be able to build this set with little competition and at decent pricing. |

I don't think folks fully realize how scarce some sets are. I think I can recall a few small groups of these but not too many. Also, at some point you might think about paying a little more than you thought you might have to but go ahead and pick a few up. I know I have had to do that on occasion...good luck in your quest. |

I think my vision might be skewed, because part of the reason I decided to do the set was because I had run into two or three nice-sized lots of these, all in the scope of about a month. I passed them all by, but then picked up a raw Lazzeri for my HOF set a few weeks later. So when I decided to jump in, I did it having just been exposed to a bunch. |

I consign alot of stuff to Bill and there will be a Schalk and a Harris both hofer's graded, I think SGC 60 and 70 (one bagger's) in his auction starting Sept 7Th (I think or there about's) Hope this helps. They are tough, I agree with Leon's statment, they are a tough set. Oh, BID HIGH. |

Since we are here (talking about them) I don't have a problem with you telling the poster you have some for sale/trade etc. Actually it's appreciated. Blatant/covert |

Only four ball players to locate. Low cost, crude photos I know, but the same year. |

The one with the Sweetman back is from the Sweetman set, and is not a W502. Not sure about what the blank backs could be, but it doesn't sound like a W502. There are several sets which use the same basic design that the W502s use; I don't know which one came first. 1927 York Caramel, maybe? |
