Not as off topic as you think--he owned a stake and was an officer for the New York Black Yankees. Any chance there's a card of him, strip or otherwise, in existence? In fact, Besides Fatty Arbuckle, are there many celebrities that have been involved with a professional team in some capacity?

I believe Bing Crosby had a stake with the Pirates and was even on the cover of Sports Illustrated in this capacity. I also think that Bob Hope had a stake with the Indians around the same time.

Not sure if he is still involved with the team, but Bill Murray used to be part owner of the St. Paul Saints of the Independent League. Of course, Carl Spackler is the groundskeeper...

I saw many years ago an album of cards from Cuba that had hundreds of celebrities of all sorts, mostly 20's and 30's. Can't remember, but there could have been a Bojangles. He was awfully famous. That could be a starting point.

thought of a few others last night- John Philip Sousa had his own baseball team and of course chuck connors, the rifleman actually had a few card appearances. ive also seen some zane gray minor league pics.

more modern stuff- there were promotional cards produced for movies like the natural, bull durham, and eight men out which feature the actor as ballplayer. some are pretty neat

Bill Robinson co-starred with Shirley Temple in the 1935 film "The Little Colonel." Chad's card seems awfully close to depicting that.

As noted, Bing Crosby co-owned the Pittsburg Pirates. I once owned a photo
of Bing with coach Honus Wagner, both in Pirates baseball uniforms.

Danny Kaye was co-owner of the Seattle Mariners. If you own a 1970s Mariners
yearbook, he will be pictured inside as Vice President

A few years ago I saw on eBay a card depicting actors from
the movie, probably excerpted from one of the movie
scenes, at a ballpark. The one in a straw hat was playing
the role of Attell, the fancier dressed actor was
portraying Rothstein.

I have never seen that card again. I should have bought
it. It went for $4. I think.
