Did the Pirates have an African-American trainer in 1909 -- or am I missing something...

He looks like Don Zimmer. Honestly, it's tough to tell. (Not that he's Don Zimmer. I'm sorta sure he isn't The Gerbil.)

I have a team photo from 1909. On the far left is an African-American gentleman named LaForge. He is dressed in a white shirt, not a baseball uniform. I always assumed he was a clubhouse manager or trainer...obviously important enough to the team that he is included in team pictures.
