I knew that these were tough with a few common examples in VG condition going for around $100 over the last couple of years, but $500 for this card? I would have expected somewhere in that vicinity if Lajoie's image was not affected. I was thinking that this example would grab $150 max. Maybe Colgan's are starting to earn a little more respect in the hobby. The entire series always gets my vote for the most underappreciated set.

It sure looks like two guys had to have it.

A lot of series in card collecting are acquired tastes (like whiskey) 'cause they sure don't seem good upon first sampling. Im still working on liking round cards. The Dixie lids are easiest for me to like so far.

Colgan Tin Tops (E270) are a lot tougher than regular Colgans (E254's).....That probably had something to do with it...

is a tough Colgan's in any series too. The buyer also collects Colgans. I didn't see that one or I might have put a bid or two in...........As we've stated over last few months there are VERY few Colgan's trading hands on ebay and I haven't seen a nice lot in any major auction for a long time.....

Nothing escapes the everpresent eye of this forum. I'd been looking for a Lajoie for a while, but wasn't expecting to have to pay quite that much for it, but apparently there was someone else out there that has similar tastes as I do. Oh yeah, I'm always looking for Colgans if people have extras.
