Question 1:

I know that SGC and GAI grade A, Aut or Authentic. Does PSA?

Question 2:

Can an A or AUT be included in one's registered set. If so how does it impact on your set rating?

Question 3:

Assuming one can include an A or AUT is it entered as A, AUT or 0?

Yes PSA does grade authentic and it is written on the holder sometimes with a designation i.e. trimmed etc.
Yes u can enter them in the registry(or at least PSA's)
and they are counted as graded a 1 (or at least in the PSA registry)

You can register an AUT card ...i think it automatically tayes it as a 1

I dont think they show up the pop reports though...

Psa does use the auth tag, but not all the time. and I think no grade is given towards the reg. authentic equates to 0 not a psa 1

Psa/dna does use the authentic tag though.

Rick are you sure? I have always heard and thought it gets a 0.

The one authentic card I have is not equated into the set GPA at all.

As far as I know SGC sets will not accept an authentic card. I had a couple but when I put them in they didn't take. I never asked, just sold off the cards and now am determined to make sure everything I get is a 1 or better

Authentic graded cards can be registered on the PSA registry, and show up as 3's. However, when calculated they are entered as 0 for GPA, but do raise the completion level.

I have never owned a AUT card ..so i was just guessing.

BTW ...has there been a time when an AUT card sell better than a PSA 3?

I remember a 1952 Mantle AUT getting over 5 grand on ebay ..but im not sure how legit that auction was.

I wonder how the future market will treat AUT cards that present "mint"?

For the most part I REALLY HATE Authentic Cards. I would say 9.5/10 times the cards are trimmed and that really bugs me. I would rather have a low grade card then a pretty trimmed card. Based on how restoration is looked at in the Comic Book and Toy market I would say that a authentic card will often be greatly looked down upon.

The trick with cards are that sometimes cards are so rare that you don't have much of a choice. In these cases that authentic card will still have high demand.

However if a card is otherwise avaialbe in unaltered states then I think the altered card will sell for a lot less.

I have sold a couple of authentic cards and I generally get about the same price as I would for a poor card.

I just picked up one of those rare cards you mentioned. It was factory miscut on the top edge but only a corner to the top middle. The rest of the card is a real blazer. I would prefer a whole card but when you can't find them you take what you can get. I don't see why a set registry should have have a problem with including a Aut card in the registry but not include points associated with the card.

OK, I agree, I don't like AUT grade either but the alternative is to have the card returned marked "trimmed". That's not real satisfying when you've just dropped $10 or so to have it slabbed. Then, what is one going to do with the card? Pawn it off raw to some other unsuspecting soul; use it as a book mark; throw it in the shoebox with all the other crap accumulated over the years; ???? OK, the card is not as issued, but it is real pretty, it is real, and it looks great in an SGC holder.

Don't get me wrong if you send in a card you might as well get it cased. I agree that the cards will look nice it the case regardless.

Also a lot of hand cut and early cards sometimes won't be graded because of that aspect I think this sucks but it is hard to get around it.

To a large extent I wouldn't mind an authentic card counting on a set registy as having the card but with no value toward the set rating.

As I siad there are obviously some cards that you can't let the condition bother you. Anyone got a trimmed Old Mill Jackson, I Am not even sure I could afford that with the price of that card.
