What in the world is going on with T210 prices? Have I missed a dollar devaluation or is the market for these cards really that hot? |

Jay --it is amazing --I thought I was crazy to make my high bids but they pale in comparison to the levels we have now seen and it is only Tuesday ! I know there are some key cards that a number of collectors have been looking for so I assume that accounts for the high bids ---I only hope the winner bidder will take those gems they need and put the rest back in the marketplace for the rest of us! |

Here's the (corrected breakdown w/ juice at 17.5%) as of about 1PM EST on 08NOV05:
That is some very spirited bidding - I guess the bidders have figured out that it isn't too often that you'll get the opportunity to pick up near complete series or bulk lots of these cards. |

Fred---I'm not sure what you are looking at but I have different prices. For example, for Series 7 and 8 I have the current per card bid, with the 17.5% buyers premium, at $456 and $424, respectively. These levels have been constant since this morning. |

I picked up a handful of these for less than $10 a piece at a show in 2001. |

If one person won all 8 lots as they stand now they would be paying around $110,000 for them in average vg condition and would only be 140 cards away from a complete set and that includes still needing the Jackson and Stengel.Thats just plain outright lunacy. Some of those cards are in poor condition |

a number of people have begun collection T210's lately and some of the folks in the market probably understand some of these people have pretty deep pockets. As with other items, the value just somehow tends to be driven up exponentially when this happens........some people are getting VERY nice windfalls from being the 'trendsetters' on the T210's, T211's and Contentnea's for sure.........they seem to be the flavor of the day right now............ |

I am blown away by these prices ---I will check out the final prices in the morning but to think that they are bringing these amounts is really astounding --I hope it will encourage others to sell so maybe we can see these cards hit the market individually so those of us who want a few of the cards will have a shot at acquiring them --in the meantime congratulations to the eventual winners ---I hope you will tell us your story after all is said and done--I am really curious to know why these were so important to you. I am pleased for you and hope this completes the set ( I know several of you had Stengel and maybe Jackson so maybe this just completed your set)? |

i do not know who won the T210's but i would say they were after a big group to try and start the set without doing a lot of work finding individual cards. thus, i doubt that ebay prices will be effected much. i do think the new owner might be in for a shock if indeed they have dupes and are going to try and recoup some of their expenditure. the number of people attempting this set is probably less than 10 with various others doing specific series. |

Someone is going to be in for a rude awakening when they try to sell those Series 1-4 cards on ebay individually to try and recoup their investment. The Series 5 and above will be interesting also. Normally you would think that you could slab these cards and push the prices up on ebay but it's been my experience, buying and selling 210s, that slabbing these cards doesn't affect the sale price as much as other sets. |

You guys are missing the point. The guy buying these cards will not be puttiing duplicates on ebay. Possibly they will end up as a group in a major auction. What is more likely is that he will hold them as trade material. |

There is a magazine that SCD puts out bi-yearly. In its latest issue there was an article on "The Next Million Dollar Card". It predicted the T210 Joe Jackson to be that card. And it has a price guide for those series of tobacco cards. I think this is what may be causing the frenzy. |

I agree with Scott also. Someone picked up near complete series of cards and paid a premium so they wont have to go looking for too many cards to complete the set. |

Sometime ago someone indicated that there would be a large lot of T210 cards in the next Robert Edward Auction. Has anyone confirmed that? It will be interesting to see if these prices hold. |

Hey guys... did one guy win all 8 lots of T210s in Goodwin's auction, or did the lots go to different buyers? Jay, did you get any of them??? And is there really another auction soon with a bunch of T210s offered??? |

i believe one person won them all. as i stated above, a prominent collector who chose to get a large group at one time without the work. i won't be mentioning the name for the protection of his privacy. |

Well I sure hope whoever won all the lots keeps the ones he needs and puts the rest back into the market. It is amazing to see what has happened to the prices for these cards --I just hope it has the effect of encouraging others to sell off their holdings---we need more to surface! |

If one person in fact won them all, that partly explains why the prices were so high. There is so much pressure to keep topping every lot that the prices keep spiralling up. That suggests that the final bids may not necessarily be a true barometer of the market for them. Nonetheless, those red-bordered devils are certainly red hot. |

Well if one person won all 8 lots, there had to be at least one other someone bidding them up so high. I figure that there were probably at least 3 good bidders. If it was just 2, and you saw you were behind on 6 or 7 lots, wouldn't you focus your bucks on 1 or 2 lots at that point in time? I don't know... I just don't think it was a sole "must have" bidder. Makes me think about selling my pile of little red cards. |

Frank --I was hoping you were the winner of the Series 6 cards. As I was bidding in the early stages I thought I might be bidding against you ! I won a couple of the T210 cards in the recent E-bay auction and you are right they were expensive but compared to the sale price in Goodwin's it doesn't seem that bad. Hold on to your cards --as much as I like to see these little cards become available it is also nice to know there are serious collectors who have been able to acquire so many of these cards --. |
