New board "recent pick up" threads direction

Ted brought up a good point about starting the Oct. "new pick ups" thread early. Tbob started it early as it was taking too long to download the pics. I agree and let that fly. Starting Oct 1. we are going to go to every 2 weeks for the "recent pick ups" threads. So it will be something like " 1st Oct. recent pick ups" thread.....and then "2nd Oct. Recent Pick Ups" thread..The scans and posts should be more manageable that way.....I will probably start that on Oct 1. to get in sync.....hope this helps...

Back on Topic, some peopel are still posting mosterous scans. The biggest problem with the thread is huge scans some people post. 72-100dpi is all you need for posting. Anything beyond that is really overkill. The higher resolutions are only needed if youa re planning on printing out the picture. Even with my 5meg connection, the Sep thread was actually taking a bit to completely load.

Well thanks leon for the compliment....

jay - your point is one i have considered many times. Many people on the board here are not computer wizards...understandably so. As a result, it would be hard to teach everyone a particular way of posting .... not only does the dpi matter but the screen resolution and so many other factors. The best suggestion to solve those types of problems would be to move to the board to a more powerfull application...vbulletin or something of that nature... of course that would take some work to move over the history and such and that is a whole other topic!
