i have a chance (pardon the pun!)to buy a 1914 CJ frank chance psa1 with a MK qualifier.the price is $1000.i don't have a scan for all of you to see but from your past experiences is this price too steep.i know the value would atleast be be $700-800.personally ,this is my favorite chance card and a grade any higher would be out of my price range.opinions... |

what's the source of this cards scarcity besides the fact that 1914 CJ's are tough unto themselves? |

Chance was only issued in the '14 set- he was replaced by Hal Chase in the '15. Along with a handful of other players (Cashion, Lord, Callahan, and a few others I can't recall without my notes) who only appear in the '14 set, anyone looking to get one of each player for a combined set would have only one choice-'14. |

Appeared ONLY in 1914 and NOT 1915 because Frank played his last game on April 21 1914 therefore he was NOT included in 1915 set thus making this card a RARE Variation. |

Are the Chance and horizontal Matty any rarer than the other 1914s? I don't see why they would be. Just because the card was changed or deleted for the 1915 set, that doesn't make the card in the 1914 set any scarcer. If I insisted upon having a 1914 Cobb, and had no interest in a 1915 Cobb, would I have as tough a time finding it as a horizontal Matty or a Chance? |

I figured that was a decent price (plus, the card didn't look bad for the grade actually). Though, not as great of a deal as the SGC 40 for $1136.11!!!!! I was going to place a bid of around $2k-$3k on that one, but had to get BCD paid off and thought the card would go for over $5k. |

You certainly are lucky having two! Anyway, when the Chance finally starts to move upward like the Matty has, you will have an extra one to get some good money or trades for! |

Every price guide I have up until 1988 lists both the Matty and Chance 1914 CJ's the same! |
