I'm writing an article on W590 for Old Cardboard. I need scans of the following cards for the photo checklist: |

It says in the "Total Baseball" under the 'Coach Rosters': George Burns NY-N 1931. |

I've always wanted to see what the w590 Alexander "house of david" card looks like. Sounds like a very unique card , with 'ol pete sporting a long bushy beard and all. Or, is it just a team variation that is otherwise identical to the normal w590 Alexander? I know Paul Stewart used to own one, perhaps he could be of some assistance in tracking down a scan. Paul? |

I'm pretty sure that the House of David Alexander is identical to standard Alexander card in the set, with just a change in the caption below the photo. |

Sorry can't help with the list Andy. I would love to have one of these Youngs cards if they exist. Heck of a way of indicating ('Former Outfielder') that he had passed away. |

Here is a scan of the W590 Alexander with the House of David. Sadly, I traded it away to another board member as part of a major deal. It was probably the least valuable card in the trade, but the one that I most regret giving up. |

My understanding is that they let Ol' Pete pitch without a beard, the only player they allowed that privilege. |

That Alexander card is way cool! Never seen one before. How rare and what's it worth? |

I don't know how rare it is or what it's worth. I do know (1) I've never seen another, and (2) I bought it for about $25 two or three years ago through an ad in SCD. I remember calling the dealer on the phone to buy his W590 Alexander. He got out the card to look at it (I probably asked about the condition) and he said, "oh, that's interesting, he is listed with the House of David team, how strange." Once in a while, you get lucky. |

Thanks for the great info. I still need a scan of the Spencer card. I'd buy or trade for one as well. |
