There seems to be a lot of vintage collectors who pay large sums of money for Cuban cards. Can anyone explain to me the appeal of these cards? |

While it is true that some sellers of Cuban cards have delusions of grandeur, in some cases there are Hall of Famers that can only be found during their playing days in a Cuban issue: Pop Lloyd, Oscar Charleston, and a few others. That phenomenon has made sellers think that every Cuban card of a HOfer is priceless- perhaps true with an Aguilitas or Billiken of Pop Lloyd (or Sam, as he is also known) but not true of all Cuban cards. The buyer (and not the seller) ultimately is the judge. |

The Lloyd for $6000 is a much better deal than the Gibson, in my personal opinion. I have already (in another thread) discussed why the Gibson doesn't appeal to me. That Lloyd card on the other hand is quite nice, and is a pretty tough card from a tough set. |
