I buy about 80% of my cards from eBay, 20% of my cards from friends and other networking contacts, and 0% of my cards from other auctions, shows, etc. |

likewise, very similar to those numbers...I would like my auction numbers to increase, but despite my best efforts I get outbid every which way I turn! |

without Ebay though? I know we all have our issues with Ebay, but wow, without it, my collection would be quite small. Sources are just not available in Smalltown America! |

I buy most of my stuff at either the bigger card shows or ebay (75% 20% respectively). Lately, I've made a few contacts through these message boards, so I've bought stuff from them as well (5%). Thanks guys!! |

At this point, I'd say 70% come from ebay, 25% from shows, and the rest from contacts, auctions and dealers. My show # would be much worse but for the annual National buying spree. |

As a dealer, most of my card acquisitions come from collectors and occasionally auctions. I only rarely buy anything on ebay. I do buy in bulk, and will take the bad and ugly with the good. Since my clients are mostly set builders, or collectors of individual cards, I want to have a good variety on hand. Lots of collectors just throw the duplicates in a box, including cards that they have upgraded. I ask them to think of me when they get ready to cash them out, as they want to move a bunch at a time, with little work on their part instead of doing their own scans, listing, selling, bookkeeping, etc. not to mention the time committment of selling themselves on ebay. Many recognize that for them, cashing out for a lesser price is much easier than the effort required to sell for full value one at a time. Very high dollar or rare cards are the exception however. |

I buy most of my cards from this old timer that lives down the street from me here in SF. He's a retired journalist. Anyway, last night for example, we had a couple glasses wine, talked about writing, cards, and then made a deal. I was happy, he was happy. I also get a lot of stuff from the Flea Market, too. I've made some great finds there. I buy very little off of eBay. I actually use craigslist much, much more. |

Travis, you find pre-WW II cards on craigslist? I've scanned the site before (and just now as well) and have never seen any pre-WW II cards for sale. I'm in SF so let me know if you guys ever want a third to join one of your wine drinking/card chats. |

75% ebay, 10% fellow traders and Forum 54 guys, 15% from dealers on the internet and through catalogues. I try out dealers by buying a few inexpensive cards first to see how their grading is and if it is ok, I take a flyer on some of the higher priced cards. |
