I was wondering the same thing. She claims to be selling her grandfathers original collection (she is 72). The cards are in very nice, like new, condition. She will not offer a money back guarantee, or at least her quick replies to my inquiries stopped when I asked for a money back guarantee if they are deemed to be reprints. |

I also emailed the seller and got a nice response. Those cards are the real thing: the thinness, glossy surfaces and the odd cuts to the cards are all positive indicators. I've had about 75 of these and have never seen a convincing fake. It's the nicest group of T222's I've seen. |

Wow, the seller just listed a few non-sport personalities for this set. These are tough. Nice condition cards for Fatimas. This is salavation type material. There will be an interesting end to the auctions. |

I contacted the seller to see what other T222's she might have (since she says others will be listing in the coming days). Unfortunately, it appears that her son has decided to keep the remaining baseball cards to give to his son. I specifically wanted to find out if there were any HOFers in the cards that were held back (which would truly be worthy of salivating) but never got a response as to the other players they had. My offer to handsomely pay her son for an Alexander, if any, was also turned down and she is apparently regretting her decision to list the cards that are currently listed (the bb cards that is). |

Wonder if she still regrets posting the 14 baseball T222s. $12,408 for 14 commons equates to a healthy $886 average per card (all commons). Even at the elevated prices, I was happy to snag one. With 5 different winners amongst the 14 card group, I'd say the interest in the set is substantial and perhaps the price guides need an update. I'm sure the excitement of a substantial offering of high end material helped the cards perform as they did. |

Even though the prices were high for all of them, there's a huge gap in their difficulties. Hamilton, Lobert, Baumgardner, L.Magee, S.Magee, Smith and Leibold are all "high numbers" (the number in the lower left corner); these are rarely seen. L.Magee hasn't been listed on eBay once in the past 3 years. The rest of them (Brown, McLean, Saier, Tyler, Perdue, Maisel and Murphy) are commons, at least 10x easier to find. |

Wow, that was some of the strangest bidding I have seen in a long time. It appears that a few people got a little carried away. I know the fore5k... is working on the set and has some $$, so I assume he put some high cealing bids in to make sure he would win them, probably not thinking that he might actually get outbid. The rare (high #) guys in the set are extremely difficult, as Bill said, and wasn't so surprised that they went for a fair amount of cash, but the "commons"? that was a little bid strange, and doesn't (in my opionion) fairly represent their true "value". I have a feeling you are going to be seeing a lot more of these cards coming out of peoples collections in the next little while, with people hoping they can cash in on this craze. Every once in a while this sort of thing happens on ebay. About 3-4 years ago there was a similar, albeit much more mild, situation with the C46 set. The commons in VG to EX condition could be had for about $10-25 before a few gentleman decided to all collect the set at the same time, and for about 7-8 months the commons in that same range were going for $40-60 ungraded. After that time they have gone down in value somewhat and a little more reasonable today- $20 should get you a C46 on ebay in VG to about $35-40 or so for a nice ungraded EX. |
