This lady found boxes of old cards in the attic of the home she purchased last year. Amazingly some of the cards have been graded. And someone just left them in the attic? She's got some great cards listed. But, her ad states that for your winning bid, her grandson will grab 10 cards at random and send them to you. Do you think there's a chance he'll randomly grab a couple of slabbed cards or 10 1990 Donruss commons??????? Look at the picture and tell me what you think you'd get.

You are way better off with the following scam:

I have a pot full of change. I even see a couple of halfs and a silver dollar in there. Just send me a dollar and Ill scoop you out a handful and send it right off to ya!

At least you'd get some value.

For someone who doesn't know anything about cards, it's amazing how she knows which ones have value.

I emailed her a while back and offered to buy the E98 Wagner at a fair price and she said she had already packaged it up and that I had better hurry because they were going fast. At that time I looked at the bids and it was "0" after 6 days of running this scam. This time she is running a 3 day auction and 3 numbskulls have already purchased multiple numbers. It's funny how she couldn't sell me the Wagner because it was already "packaged" yet in the ad she says her grandson is going to run through the room randomly grabbing 10 cards as soon as you order....

Who the hell would leave that in their attic when they left? Amazing that she had the ACC designation for her Cobb card.

I just sent this person an email asking her if I buy all 189 lots at $1.50, am I guaranteed all the cards that she lists.

For a few hundred bucks, you could get the Cobb, Ruth, Mays, Dimag, Mantles and all the other stuff.

I might not even mind paying a little extra for shipping.

Now that's a good deal.

How do you think she'll answer?

to take the Topps Honus Wagner E98 off your hands at a reasonable price. Do you think that is what it says on the slab label?

none of the really expensive cards are shown in the big lot image; the rest could have been grabbed from other posts. Some are scans (note the very remote size and big white field); many have been cropped. I am willing to bet that even if she has all of the cards listed, they are actually reprints, which is why they are not shown in the "lure" image.

Here is the reply to the e-mail I sent this seller...

++++++ Copy ++++++

Dear david-and-cindy,

You asked:
"I see you have 189 lots available. If I purchase all 189 lots, am I guaranteed all the cards you mention at the top of the listing, Cobb, Ruth, Williams, Dimaggio, etc.... If so, I will purchase all the lots ASAP. Thank you."

Hello I cant guarantee anything because I have already sold some of the lots and plus I have more lots set back for another auction Honestly I have no idea what I still have or what I have sold.thats about all I can tell you Thanks for looking

+++++ End Copy ++++

Man, there goes the retirement fund.

I asked:
"Could you send me a scan of the back of the Leaf Dimaggio and the Wagner E98? Thanks."

Answer:

I think that means "no", but since he has obviously never found his aspostrophe key, I can't be certain.

To potential bidders who think about it, this auction should come across as 'unlikely.' If you bought ALL the lots, the total price would be under $300. Yet, the auction supposedly contains a random Goudey Ruth, Cracker Jack Cobb, Goudey Gehrig (plus much more). As any ONE of these cards is worth well more than the $300, even if in very rough shape, the auction is implausible at best ... A 1915 Cracker Jack Ty Cobb or even a Tom Seaver Rookie for $1.50? Ain't gonna happen ... Anyone who knows to list a Goudey Ruth, Dan Dee Duke Synder, PSA/DNA Ted Williams autograph and 1969 Topps Nolan Ryan knows quite a bit about baseball cards ... There was an eBay seller of a mound of cards who's listed 'highlights' included a 1990 Doug Jones and a 1988 Fleer Mickey Morandini. When he said he knew nothing about baseball cards, I beleived him.

The seller starts the auction by writing, "When I bought my home last year, I found some very old baseball cards in the attic."

What are the chances that someone would move out of his house and accidentaly leave 1915 Cracker Jack Cobbs, 1933 Goudey Ruths and Gehrigs, 1950s Topps Mantles, Tom Seaver RCs and 1949 Leaf DiMaggios (some in lucite holders with price tags) in the attic?

There are some collectors who, if their houses were on fire, would tell the fireman, "Ignore my wife. We don't have time to worry about the photo albums or grandmother's wedding dress. Get your best man on that ladder save my Mickey Mantles."

In one auction her son picks out the cards. In the other auction her grandson picks out the stamps. I guess her great grandson does the coins.
