Have you ever approached any government agency with your information? It strikes me that a government investigation (a private lawsuit is more likely to be limited to the item in question and probably would settle before much came of it) may be the only meaningful way to expose the truth on some of these items that appear to be questionable. Absent legal compulsion, people with something to hide usually can through a combination of damage control, spin, and playing ostrich.
