Hi, I just found your site...very nice place! Now for why I need your expertise..My son (17) was giving a ton of baseball cards years back. He has never really been into collecting..so they are going up for sale. But there are these that I can't find any information on..I can find some that are close. They really aren't cards more like a print of a picture...there is nothing on them to identify them..blank on the back. They do have a facsimile autograph on each one..I can find pictures on the web like the Bill Veeck and Satchel Paige one but they have no information either. They are not stuck on cardboard or anything either. Were they a give away or something? |

From the late 1940s through the 1960s, the Cleveland Indians (and other teams) sold picture packs of players both through the mail and at their stadiums. The ones you have -- if they are vintage -- should measure about 6.5 by 9 inches, but judging from the sheets you have them displayed in, they appear to be postcard size. I remember back in the early 1990s a set of cards like the ones you have being produced and patterned after one of the 1940s-50s picture packs. |

Thanks for the quick response..I really do appreciate you sharing your knowledge. These measure about 3 1/2 X 2 1/2. It is the same picture of the stadium that you have posted. |

Given the dimensions, those are the ones I was thinking of that were produced in the 1990s. I was wrong previously when I remembered them being postcard size. Sorry to say they're not worth a whole lot. |

along the lines of what I was thinking too. But I figured it was better to try and find out. I have a couple of albums of cards and a box full. I really didn't want to just give them to goodwill...they belong to my son and he just got his first car so if he sells the whole kit and kaboodle for cheap he'll be happy..if not off to the goodwill they go..alng with the football and basketball ones...I really don't know enough about them or the time to mess with them..I have some what sorted them though. Thanks for all your help. |
