Even more surprising is that Henry Yee isn't the seller. |

No explanation for why it sold so high. |

Since Henry Yee's name came up, is anybody amazed at some of the prices he gets in his auctions? Especially with photos and pinbacks, the numbers are sometimes staggering. Why do you think he gets such high prices? |

In light of how much the team photo went for, I was surprised at how low the Walter Camp individual cabinet photo went. I threw a lowball bid out there and almost won it. It went for like $800-$850 or so. |

Thanks Rob for the link. Interesting read. I guess we can all speculate and assume without any concrete evidence. But as someone mentioned in that thread, even if shilling is going on, there are still buyers paying those high prices. Maybe one day the truth will be revealed. |

I have a fairly large photo collection and I would consign to Yee in a heartbeat. There are plenty of accusations of shilling, but no proof...and I know ebay has made it difficult to find the truth now, but he was accused of this years ago and there was no proof ever offered. I was warned that I shouldn't bid because I would be shilled and there was no evidence of shilling in any auction I've ever bid on of his. I don't know why people pay outrageous prices on some of his photos, but they do, just as I don't understand some of the huge prices achieved in Mastro, REA, et cetera. |

Dan- when I get a huge price on something it's almost always just two bidders going back and forth. That's what it takes, and you can't predict it. |

If this picture went for that much, how much do you think the knickerbocker photograph in the REA auction will go for?? |

Hard to say on the Knickerbocker photo....it will go for more than $10,000, just depends on if you get two guys that really want it bad enough to shoot it out. It's a significant photo because it contains some players who have never shown up on a photo until now, but it's kind of boring aesthetically as far as baseball photos go...just my opinion though. |
