This Ruth rookie actually looks pretty good. None of the tell-tale signs of a reprint in the scan, at least none that I see. Perhaps he stole the scan. I have never seen anyone offer so many ridiculous reasons for not getting a card graded. I buy ungraded cards all the time, but never from someone who offers 10 different excuses for not grading the card. And this listing follows a pattern that's more reliable than Newton's laws: the likelihood of a fraud is directly proportional to the number of spelling and gramatical errors. |

Pete still has the page up on his site that explains how to differentiate between real and fake Ruths: http://www.caramel-cards.com/reprint1.html. |

It doesn't surprise me to see a fool and his money parted. It surprises me to see how a fool and his money ever got together in the first place. |

The auction definitely had a BIN. I swear when I first looked at it, it had a BIN of 3K, and then moments later it became 1K. Perhaps the seller reduced the BIN. |

At first glance the card shows all of the signs of being real. Not your typical Ruth reprints seen everyday on ebay. But after closer inspection and a little investigating I have a theory: |

I would stay as far away from this jerk as possible. I exchanged a few emails with him and he fits the "Southern Ohio" profile perfectly. As a previous poster pointed out, he's incredibly ignorant, setting up a shill bidder for one of his reprints and adding feedback 90 minutes later. |
