Greeting All,
These two pictures came with some other stuff I bought(sports and americana lot.) I think they maybe the same person although I am not sure. Can anyone tell me if this guy is famous or infamous? He looks like a mathematician I had studied, though I can't remember his name. Nevertheless, any help would be apreciated.

The back of the studio picture is printed with the following: "Tappan's Branch Gallery,Woodsfield O.,A.W Marshall, Manager.

Those are pictures of my great grandpa Louie. He invented the toilet seat cover. Before him, you could always see the hole.
