Wow, I had no idea these existed. I love the video on YouTube of Goose playing baseball at Crosley Field.

The backs advertise 8x10 photos of the players. Have any of you ever seen one of those?

No, I just have the Goose Tatum. Sorry, it's not for sale. Here's a scan of the back featuring the ad for the 8x10s.

By the way, I just looked at Baseball-Reference.com and saw that Tatum played for the Clowns only from 1946-48. So the set is probably from that era, not 1943. The thing I love about this set is that, as far as I know, it's the only mainland-USA set featuring Negro League players. The rest are from Latin America.

That's fantastic -- great find, Paul!

Hi Leon. I actually tracked one down already, but wasn't the B/S/T area the appropriate place for this thread?

Yes, it was. It was such a cool postcard I thought others would like seeing it. And congrats!

Does anyone here have any other examples from this issue (besides King Tut) or any additional info in general? I provided SGC with what I thought was more than enough information to get the Tatum into a slab, but they need more. Sigh.

More info? The only issue here is dating it?
We should be able to get to at least a circa date?
I wonder if the fact it says "famed" instead of "famous" could make it a few years later than '46-'48?

I found an 8x10 photo that appears to be the basis for the Goose Tatum postcard above, through a Google search. It was in an RMY auction in February 2018.

Here's the link:

There is a Toni Stone (female ball player) and Hank Aaron. Also, several different team photos postcards from the same era.
