Default 1907 H.M Taylor Detroit Team

I noticed today there are at least 2 variations of the Detroit Team card

The difference is in the type set Detroit Club
one is smaller all white and the more common version
the other is taller and has a 1920 style type set with the inside line

We had one a couple auctions ago and noticed the same thing while we were researching. If I were a betting man I'd say the one with the filled in letters was produced later (not saying it's a reprint or modern or anything, more that it's a "type II" kind of situation) and is a photographic reproduction of the first as the image quality is lower. I would argue that ours was potentially a third version as our letters looked gray, though with the condition issues I could see arguing they're just a toned or soiled white.

I think when these set lists were originally created there was no internet so they would see one and not notice the smaller differences...

Now that VCP has been tracking these sales for almost 20 years now we have 88 sales records of this card. So when you are in the image viewer going through each image you start noticing things...

I dont think this will ever get it's own variation but still nice to see

It's not a reproduction; it just uses a different photo. I'm almost certain I've seen both with October 1907 postmarks. Anyway, they had to take two photos because the dog wasn't looking at the camera for the first one.

Those are two different photos, the dogs head is different, same photo session though. Here's another variation of the top photo, not a Taylor though.

Good catch on the dog! Appropriately enough considering your screen name!
