I recently sold a nice 58 St. Louis postcard of Bob Petit postmarked from the day they clinched the Championship over the Celtics. And I remembered this 1905 Philadelphia A's postcard that is postmarked 10/10/1905. On the 10th of October 1905 the A's Hosted the Giants for Game 2 of the series. They won their only game of the series that day losing the series 4-1. I think it adds to the card and wonder what more serious PC collectors think and if any have others to share.

One of my favorite things to collect are RPPCs that are inscribed and postmarked within a day or two of the game. Literally the original Instagram or Snapshot or X, or whatever (I am not a social media guy

I love it when PC have a stamped date and note. The stories they tell, the journey the PC itself went through, the historical significance of how folks use to communicate, is something that makes PCs that were used so fascinating.
Here is my favorite one I own. A 1912 Red Sox Artshop Postcard. “Here’s a picture of the new World Champions. Good looking bunch, don’t you think? I’m afraid their victory today was a rather hollow game, but anyway, it’s all in the new game.” That last line is what gets me thinking a ton. Not exactly sure what they meant by the new game. |

Great replies!! Big Blue over Red Fielding Jost leading the team. Red Sox before the curse. Using PC sized issues as PC's is great. And the White Sox from the day before the Battle of Chicago. The city of Chicago must have been buzzing like a beehive on the eve of the 1906 WS.
I have seen collectors dismiss Postcards that have writing and postmarks, because it hurts their grade. But it is great to see some like minded folks here that appreciate the fact that these Postcards carry history on their backs. |

It just says "the game." So nothing puzzling to figure out.

Actually reading it correctly Rather Hollow Victory , but it's all in the game. Makes perfect sense. ....Snodgrass and the $30,000 muff. The 1912 World series went 8 games. Mathewson pitched game 2 that went 11 innings and was called a tie due to darkness. Matty only gave up 2 earned runs but Giants allowed 4 unearned. Mathewson was again on the mound in game 8 game tied 1 all after 9. Giants score a run in the top of the 10th. Then Snodgrass muffs ( See Aaron Judge 2024 WS) and simple fly ball, and giving Red Sox a man on Second. Later in the inning with men on first and third Matthewson gets Speaker to pop up but Giants don't make the play. Later in at bat Speaker 's hit scores man on third and moves man on first up to third. Giants fans are devastated as Sox win series in 8 games. "But it's all in the Game"..
The term $30,000 muff was the difference in winning teams share of series pot vs losers share. |

Vandy's 2nd consecutive no-hitter 6/15/38 at Brooklyn Dodgers.
Postcard mailed prior to the 1st night game at Brooklyn and what would end up being Vandy's historic back-to-back second no-hitter.... |

Scott
, This postcard was mailed where a woman mentions her Husband is attending big league games while they are visiting NY. And staying in Manhatten. The Dodgers and the Giants both had a game the next day. Is there a Vandy connection I am missing? |

First night game at Brooklyn, Vandy's 2nd consecutive no-hitter. Little did they know what was coming... The postcard was mailed before it all happened. The date on the postcard is June 15, 1938. The snapshot in the framed piece is Vandy's celebration after the game. I also have 3-4 more snapshots that include an image of the Drum and Bugle Corp that was part of the pre-game celebration and one of the Babe walking across the field after the game.
