Default Commons? Or Minor stars with value premium?

** Commons? Or minor stars? **

I am hoping to get some help from other pre-war collectors and experts to help me figure out which of these players below may carry a premium over true “commons” from the same (1910-1920) era.

I’ve been lucky enough to find a new consignment of very rare M101-4/5 cards with the very rare “Everybody’s” department store back.

Most will be sold at the REA fixed price marketplace but am doing my research of fair values for these cards -

Any of these players below carry a premium in your opinion/experience?

John Miller
Fred Molwitz
Willie Mitchell
Herbert Moran
Otto Miller
Pat Moran
Oliver O’Mara
Guy Morton
JA Neioff
Dode Paskert
Hy Myers
Steve O’Neil
Geo Moriarity
Roger Peckinpaugh (likely premium)
Ed Murphy
Ray Morgan
Deril Pratt
Rube Oldering
Pat Ragan
Mike Mowry

Thanks all… as always, appreciate the input and expertise!

Jeff

Pat Moran card, no. Pat Moran autograph, yes.

That said, you can rarely tell when 2+ people will get into a bidding war over a rando because they need something for some reason that's not apparent.

Jeff, my curiosity runneth over. You just excitedly told us about your new GROSS VINTAGE BASEBALL sales website. So then, why are you going to sell most of these Everybody's cards on REA's fixed price marketplace instead of your own new sales website?

Your website selling your services says you have "unmatched knowledge" of vintage baseball cards. Surely you can identify common players.

Sometimes depends on the set, Del Pratt carries a huge premium in a 14 CJ set.

This is the internet where it is clearly not safe to believe everything we read.

Fair question, Val… I believe there may be buyers who are not social media users but do look to AH’s like REA so we’re hoping to tap into a new group of buyers that way.

Also, when we decided to try out the new(ish) REA fixed price platform, we were not yet live with our own site.

But who knows? If the REA experience isn’t quite what we hope for, we may end up putting these onto our new site.

Ha, even though the intent of your comment is to be snarky, I do take value from it. I had lots of help launching our site and for the most part, it’s been very successful over the first week and a half. I have had lots of great feedback from buyers and collector friends.

But I didn’t realize that I had such hyperbole in the narrative so I will review and adjust because I surely don’t have unmatched knowledge… but I do find ways to seek answers for the benefit of my consigners. Also, I’m never worried to ask for help from (mostly) helpful collector communities like this one here on Net54.

So we both win - you get to feel good about your mean-spirited flex here for all to see, and I get unintended but still helpful feedback to review the website to be sure we don’t make unrealistic claims.

Win/Win.

The comment you call snarky is terse but accurate. You have come on here several times over the past months really doing nothing more than propping your own business and asking if this or that card/player carries a premium. The thrust of your posts is “Help me if you can so I can grab a little more money from someone when I put this up for sale”. That’s fine as a seller, and maybe even your duty to your consignors, but most of us here are in it for the hobby and are happier when someone lands a good deal on something they have wanted for a long time than helping a seller who claims this as his business to reap maximum profit.

There are many seasoned sellers here who share a great wealth of knowledge as to what they have seen and their experiences in the market, and from time to time they might want some insight into something unfamiliar to them. They give at least as much as they take, if not more, so the occasional assist on an issue is no big deal. This is not that.

Everybody asks for help sometimes, I sure have. But you have come on here many times asking for help with really simple things while you have a site selling your services as an alleged expert that is filled with claims about your unmatched knowledge, connections, how you are uniquely able to get top dollar sales etc. You should not be shocked that this repeated pattern and obvious contradiction gets noticed. I should think you read your own website and its claims/bragging about you.

Why the anger, why the hate??

Just answer the same question a hundred times about different sets, players or auctions houses etc.
