Multiple Votes now allowed
It's time to select who is among the greatest "commons" in baseball. The rules were simple, a player could never have received more than five votes for the real Hall Of Fame. I took nominations from the board. Because of the numbers I had to limit it to the recent baseball card era and to those players that received at least one vote. Vote for as many as you think are appropriate. Voting is open till January 10th. Nominations are closed and only include those mentioned in the original post by board members. If your favorite isn't here, there's always next time. Next to each nominee's name is the total number of votes they received from the Baseball Hall of Fame voting. Sal Bando 3 Lance Berkman 5 Cesar Cedeno 2 Rocky Colavito 3 Vince Coleman 3 Eric Davis 3 Bucky Dent 3 Brian Downing 2 Ron Fairly 3 Steve Finley 4 Bill Freehan 2 Willie Horton 4 Charlie Hough 4 Jason Kendall 2 Dave Kingman 3 Jerry Koosman 4 Chet Lemon 1 Davey Lopes 2 Greg Luzinski 1 Denny McLain 4 John Olerud 4 Boog Powell 5 Willie Randolph 5 Rick Reuschel 2 Manny Sanguillen 2 George Scott 1 Reggie Smith 3 Jim Sundberg 1 Gene Tenace 1 Tim Wakefield 1 Last edited by darkhorse9; 01-10-2025 at 07:03 AM. |

Eric Davis
Jerry Koosman Davey Lopes Boog Powell Willie Randolph Can’t believe Denny McLain doesn’t have more than my vote. In 4 seasons 1965 to 1969) , the dude won 108 games (16, 20, 17, 30 w/ 1.96 ERA, 24), 2 CYAs, 1 MVP, & 1 World Series. Appeared in 3 AS games. 2.95 ERA during that span. Then his career collapsed for too many reasons. Last edited by tjisonline; 01-01-2025 at 04:52 AM. |

Lance Berkman .293/.406/.537 OPS+ 144 Joey Votto .294/.409/.511 OPS+ 144 If Joey Votto is a future Hofer, then so is Lance Berkman is too. Votto has a MVP, but Berkman was a stud in the postseason, unlike Votto. Berkman hit .317/.417/.532 in the postseason. Berkman hit .410/.510/.564 in 2 World Series. In the 2011 World Series game 6, Berkman came up in the 10th inning with 2 outs and the Cardinals losing by 1 run. He tied the game with a single. The Cards went on to win game 6 and 7. |

I used my extremely biased vote for Rick Reuschel. He started his minor league career in the little town I live in. Unfortunately baseball left here when I was a real little kid.

We're well into voting and Ron Fairly doesn't have a single vote.
No love for the longtime Dodger and Expo I guess |
