Default O/T Does Anyone Know How to Reach David Festberg?

So, the title pretty much says it all. A lady reached out to me recently, now a forum member, and said she is the daughter of David Festberg. David was in the hobby for many years, if not still currently? She would like to get in contact with him. IF anyone knows how to, or his whereabouts, please let me know via PM or otherwise. Thanks in advance.

And a totally unrelated card so the thread can have more of a pre-war card vibe.

Last I heard, David had gone to Bhutan to find the meaning of life from a Wise Man there. Don't know if he returned with the secret or not.

As I recall, Brian Catequet (sp?) was put in charge of liquidating David's dealer stock. It's been a few years, but possibly he has some information? And no, I don't have contact information for Brian.

He popped up at the AC National several years ago, after his venture to the far east..

Thank you for this Leon! And hello fellow hobbyists. I haven’t heard from my dad since around 2016 - prior to that, he was back and forth to India on a spiritual healing journey which at the time I didn’t understand and we unfortunately became estranged. I have no idea where he is now and hoping to find him. Has anyone seen him recently? Just knowing he is OKAY would bring me some comfort. I really appreciate the help in advance. And thanks for welcoming me to your community.

Hi Leon,
Festberg had a coworker/friend named Anthony who went on to work at REA after Festberg closed shop. Ask Dean (or Brian) at REA, they might be able to get you in touch with Anthony. Unfortunately, Dean is on vacation thru the holidays.

Oh, and happy holidays to you and your family

To sum up, so far he is said to be a liquidating, thieving, bodhisattva father who occasionally hangs out in Jersey?

I don’t know him or his daughter. I wish her good luck. I hope he wants to be found. It must be very difficult not knowing where your parent is or if they are ok. I can’t imagine how difficult that must be.

David was one of the top dealers of the 1990s. I don't think he did shows, maybe the National, but I never met him. I did buy stuff from him through auctions, and was always pleased. I feel for his daughter, and I hope this saga ends well.

He is a member here, under the username yogirajdavid, though it looks like his last login was in March of 2019.

Not sure what process of spiritual enlightenment involves cutting off contact with family members but since I know nothing of this situation I will move on.

Based on my limited knowledge of watching tru-crime docs on Netflix/Max/Hulu, and teasing out his Net54 handle it appears he's a follower of this fella:

Yogiraj Gurunath Siddhanath

Practicing something called Kriya Yoga

Some of these groups are harmless classes of people just wanting to find some peace, learn how to meditate, and stretch out on a yoga matt to increase flexibility and strengthen your inner core.

Some of them are cult-like sects that try to manipulate your brain, bleed you of your money, and get you to volunteer in work camps for them, while cutting off your extended family.

Hope David's at peace with whatever he's involved in.

I used to look forward to his auctions in SCD in the 90's. A lot of it was Pre-War for people on a budget. He'd have group lots of all kinds of vintage tobacco and gum cards. Sports, Non-Sports, Foreign issues, etc...

It was always a fun crapshoot. He would tend to over-grade a bit, and sometimes you'd open a package and it would be a box full of beaters and garbage, and other times it would be a treasure trove of amazing stuff you weren't expecting. You were just bidding on his short group writeups he'd be able to fit in a 1 or 2 page SCD ad, so you couldn't get that mad when you got stiffed, because you knew next time you might hit the mother lode.

Last time I actually saw him, he purchased T218 and T220 Boxing Sets from me when I was set up at The Boxing Hall of Fame Collectors show in the early 2000's. He always seemed like a nice guy, whether on the phone or in person.

Lauren-

Wish I could help, but sadly I have nothing helpful except to wish you the best of luck in your quest. Hopefully you can find him.

I don't know how recent/current it is, but there is an empty profile on Linkedin for a Rabbi David Festberg in Noida, Uttar Pradesh, India.

I also found a listing on USPhoneBook.com, for a David Festberg, age 73 in Kerhonkson, NY.

Is it so hard to have just a modicum of decorum here?

This woman is looking for her dad and she came here for a little help….

Ugh…..
