Default Merging Autograph Section and Memorabilia Section?

This autograph section was started 12 1/2 yrs ago. At that time it made sense as there were many, many less options to see such things on the net. So, there was more activity.
FB Groups had barely taken off and the other apps were also a lot smaller. Times change. Nowadays we get about 1-4 thread posts a day in this section, or at least threads that pop to the top. There could be more responses in the threads, but still a low number.
It goes about the same with the Memorabilia side too. There is a little more activity but certainly no so much that the autographs would interfere with those few threads. I am not sure how they would be merged....but I think the autograph section could be moved and locked, so as to still have all of the info, and then start doing autographs in the memorabilia section? Also, a lot of people still post auto's in the memorabilia section anyway.
Thoughts? Thanks in advance!

I am pretty sure this auto is real but have never had it "opinion-ized".

I'd be happy if they were combined. Just one person's opinion.

For what little my opinion might be worth here as a very frequent reader and a less frequent poster, I'd prefer they be separate.

I only collect autographs so a combined section would just be more garbled for me to view.

At the time, I agree it was better to have the separate. Now, the number of posts have dropped so much across the board, I don't think combining them is a big deal.

To be clear, if they stay separate that is fine as well. I'm not sure having them together or apart makes much of a difference at this point.

As a 50 year autograph collector who liquidated about 40 % of his collection over the last 7 years I hope to see them remain separate entities but I understand the sentiment to combine them because over the past 3 - 4 years I’ve noticed a decrease in the quality of the posts on the sight . Less and less of vintage acquisitions and showing upgrades and monumental acquisitions but more mundane acquisitions and who is this signature and is it authentic posts ; and while these are important posts I believe the true intent has been lost. I believe this is a direct reflection of many factors including less people collecting autographs and specifically HOFer autographs , especially the ultra rare ones and the propensity of fraudulent autographs in the market and the lack of faith and overwhelming reliance on 3rd party TPAs for their purchase decisions plus the cost of acquiring the rare and ultra rare autographs- the fact is the majority of collectors aren’t as fortunate as I am to be able to acquire those autographs when price wasn’t a concern. When I stopped collecting HOFer autographs in 2017 I needed 32 to have legitimate autographs of every HOFer and I’m happy I stopped .
The decision to combine or not combine will be a decision that reflects the sentiment of the current evolution of this aspect of the hobby .

I'd prefer seperation, but I'm fine with either decision. I'm already used to checking the memorabilia forum for autograph posts that originate there and as a signed card collector I check all the B/S/T sub-forums because most of the time if someone is selling say... a signed 1956 Topps card they list it in the 1950-1959 B/S/T.

I will say that in response to the lack of engagement in the auto forum, I can't think of another subsection of sports collecting that appears to me less willing to share than vintage baseball autograph collectors. This doesn't blanket everyone, and there are many people here that share as much as they can, but many of the prominent collectors say as little as possible on most subjects.

Every thread needs a card: Here's a pair of 54's I grabbed recently.

As one who is primarily an autograph collector, I also prefer the sections stay separate. As far as the overall forum is concerned, what really is to be gained by combining them? If there is some advantage, would you also suggest combining the vintage and modern sections since there isn't much daily posting activity in the modern section either? (I can imagine all the vintage collectors picking up torches and pitchforks at the very thought of such heresy...lol!)

That said, I can live with whatever you decide. Thanks for all you do Leon!

I also prefer separate. It would be a fair bit of work to find the few threads that deal with what I am interested in.

I also prefer separate. I look at them both almost every day and I am afraid my tiny mind set would miss something if they were combined.

I'd prefer separate. I have zero interest in autographs and would rather not have to wade through all those posts just to see if there's a GU post or two mixed in.

I could not agree more. It would also be nice for Autographs to get its own icon in the main row as oppsoed to having to go to the Memorabilia/Autographs button and click another link afterwards. If that's not the biggest First World problem, I don't know what is!

.
.
I would also prefer to keep Autograph section separate.

Thank you for asking. That consideration is much appreciated.
