Default Senators Pocket Watch

I couldn't resist picking up this cute little rarity, even though I don't collect much in the way of the expansion team. I know I've seen one or two of these in my time, perhaps even in the original packaging, and I seem to remember that there was an alarm clock, probably made by the same outfit at the same time. But it's been at least 20-25 years since I've laid eyes on either, so that makes it a pretty extreme toughie in my book. I'm thinking the hat likely didn't originate with the watch, but not sure. Anybody out there got one of these, or the clock, for any team? I'm thinking they were probably made for all teams, but I just don't remember seeing any over the years.

Chaz Yastrzemski on Facebook is the baseball watch guru. I’m sure he’d know.

Been collecting this type of stuff forever, and have never seen one (for any team). I'd bet it was likely just a Senators item, as the odds are I'd have seen another example. Great pickup of a rare piece!

Thanks, Mark, how about the alarm clock? I'm pretty sure I've seen other teams besides the Senators, but it's been a very long time.

I have seen alarm clocks for various teams, but if you are talking about an alarm clock in the exact style of this Pocket watch, then no... Never seen one!

Would love to see a few examples... If someone else is aware of any, please post here!

Not in the style of the pocket watch, but for some reason I always thought they were related, as in made by the same company or because they had the same front with the team logo. The alarm clock was maybe five inches wide and six inches high, with two alarm ringers on top. I've seen them new in the box, but it's been a long, long time.

Hank,

Chaz said “I’ve seen these, even had a Cardinals one I gave away. The helmet was an add on and didn’t come with the watch. They’re very inexpensive movements and not built to last, cheap dollar watches, very lightweight and not built to last.”

Great info, Jim, thanks so much. Wonder what the helmet did come with, or if it's just supposed to be a keychain, maybe? As for the watch as a timepiece, I didn't expect to be using it for that! I love my rare little guy as it is and won't be giving mine away.
