Default Question about REA Cubs pin

I noticed REA had a Cubs pin in their auction. I have a similar pin but with O U SHINE on it. I believe it to be an advertising pin from Cub Shoe Polish not a Chicago Cubs pin. Is it possible the someone removed the O U SHINE back then and it became a Cubs Pin?

There were two versions of this pin. Although they were an advertising pin, just about everyone agrees that they used the Cubs popularity to promote their product.

Is that a Colgan’s Chips card stuck in the back of your Cubs pin?
