How well do E91 cards soak

Just got an E91A card off of eBay that was glued on to scrap paper and was deciding whether he needed a bath or not. My question to the board is how do E91 cards soak? Card also has some ind of stamp on the back so ting to see if the odds of card will survive. What is everyone’s experience with this one?

Although I have never soaked an E91, your success will depend on the glue used to adhere the card to the paper. If water soluble glue was used, then you should be okay. Most glues at the turn of the century were water soluble. If they were glued in at a later date (and ther is no way to really know), then you may run into some problems as those glues in many cases are not water soluble. I recently attempted to soak some early 1900's non-sport cards and learned pretty quickly that the cards must have been glued at a later date, as they did not soak well, resulting in paper loss on the back.

I would actually be more concerned about the front than the back, with E91s.

I've seen (and own) many E91s where the front can chip away easily. The Overall I have here is a good example. Not sure exactly what caused this; these cards were never soaked, but I'm guessing some effect of moisture did it for the ones I have. I know I've seen this with some other E cards as well (E94s, maybe?), but you'll definitely want to be careful about soaking an E91 for that reason.

This is exactly what I am concerned about. Funny thing is that this specific card is Orvill Overall E91A. The last one I need for my E91 Cubs collection. Thanks for your reply.
