My favorite set atm is the 2003 Gallery HOF Set. As an art student I’m already a fan of painted sets, and gallery scratches that itch perfectly. I especially love the artist proofs which are a high quality refractor parallel! The checklist for this set, is as the name implies; full of Hall Of Famers. Including some stellar relics and autos! I only have a couple cards of this set atm, but am honestly considering grabbing more! Here’s a picture for reference. What’s everyone else’s favorite set? Let me know!

T202. In one card you get:
The equivalent of 2 T205s A vintage action b&w photo Interesting and extensive biographies on each of the 3 panels All at an affordable price, especially the ones with HOFers in the center panel but not on the ends. Not my card but here's an example of Collins and Baker on a vintage, early career card, for under $200: https://www.ebay.com/itm/386794602639 |

I'd put the 25 postcards in the 1907-10 Novelty Cutlery and 1910 PC796 Sepia up there too. Last edited by cgjackson222; 03-07-2024 at 06:01 AM. |

1954 Bowman Baseball. Classy, simple design, almost all of the 1950s greats in this set.
On the other end of the spectrum, I remember the first time I saw the 1975 Topps Baseball cards. The colorful, busy design blew me away too, I had to have them. |

Those T3s are amazing. Count it as my favorite set that I'll leave to the rest of you. :-)
Favorite set that I finished is 1933 Goudey and my favorite card's Joe Judge. Simple, elegent work.

This is another vote for the 48/49 Leaf set. Baseball cards as pop art! I even like the poor registration.
53-56 Topps are also very good, but Leaf is my favorite. |

Pre-war. There are so many, hard to choose just one, or two, but...
1A - T206 2A - T205 - Really tough to beat a nice looking T205. Just look at Leon's T205 Cobb and that says all you need to know. Someday I'll have one. Post-war, '53 Topps |

One set? I collect everything from baseball to pin-ups, so one set...
If I had to pick a favorite baseball set it would be 1954 Topps. I've built, sold and rebuilt it 3x already. ![]() Basketball is the 1969 Topps set. Loved it since I was a kid. Built it 2x: ![]() Boxing is actually easy for me: H815 Adam Hats premiums ![]() Entertainment, 1976 Topps Star Trek ![]() Football, 1968 Topps. Again, a childhood favorite of mine: ![]() Hockey is 1975 Topps. First set I really built from packs in hockey: ![]() Motorsports, gotta go with the 1976 NASCAR postcard set from STP and Racing Pictorial. Just great looking cards. ![]() Nonsports, I am fond of a series of steamship postcards made in Japan in the interwar period. ![]() Pin-ups, I like a rare set of Cuban tobacco cards from Trinidad y Hnos ![]() ![]() Soccer, 1968 Crack from Argentina. ![]()

Pre-War would be T206. Because I don't feel the need to be "different."
Runner-up: T3. See above. Post-War is Topps 1961, which was the very first set I collected at the tender age of six. I know it's not highly thought of, but I do reserve the right to be "different" when I want to be. Runner-up: 1964 Topps. Just Because. Overall favorite set - M114 Baseball Magazine Premiums. Because it's a challenging set, unique in many ways, impossible to complete, nearly impossible to catalogue or checklist, and because I unaccountably found myself an expert on the set. And if you don't believe me, go ask Doug Goodman! |

N172 Old Judge set. I love it because of the amount of poses and the fact that someone of these players aren't pictured anywhere else. These cards are the only picture proof of them. It's also loaded with great players, extreme rarities and various ways to collect the set.
Imagine chasing the cards of two career minor league players 135 years later because they are the only two players in the huge set on those particular teams? They are two of my favorite cards from the set.

Pre-War Baseball - Turkey Red's, cannot beat the art.
Post-War vintage Baseball - 1953 Topps on design or 1966 Topps for sentimental reasons. Football - 1971 and 1997 Topps. 1954 Bowman a close runner up, some of the most fun I've had set building. Non-Sport - T29 Hassan African Animals is my favorite right now Boxing and overall favorite - T220 Silver, to which I have an unhealthy addiction because of the outdoor scenes, shiny surface, and the 2 fun super short prints. |
