Hey, another noob question, thank you guys for your patience.
One card I still need for my Boston T206 team sets is Eddie Cicotte, and I've found that it's in much higher demand than most common T206 cards. Is he in higher demand because he was a dominant pitcher and could have been HOFer, because of his ties to the Black Sox scandal, or because there are simply fewer Cicotte cards in circulation? Perhaps another reason? Just curious. Thanks!! |

I'm going out on a limb here and saying it's because of the tie to the Black Sox. Look at Gandil. I'm sure you'll see a premium for his T206, also.
If Cicotte didn't get mixed up with the Black Sox, he could have had more demand due to his HOF career which got sidetracked. A couple more good seasons and he'd have been a lock for the HOF.

That's the only pre-war card I own.
I have it precisely because I wanted one of the "black sox" "Field of Dreams" is mine and my late Father's favorite movie.

Would someone mind listing the Black Sox players who have t206 or t205 cards? I only have Cicotte but was trying to look the names up on ebay and it got very confusing. Please forgive a post war guy for asking the question. This thread piqued my interest. Thank you

Cicotte and Gandil T205 - Cicotte If you go a bit further, Burns and Chase were involved in the Black Sox scandal as well and have T206 cards. Your best bet for finding cards of the Black Sox players is the W514 set...all of the players have cards in that set except for McMullin. |

But the McMullin does have the advantage of being a new menu item at McDonalds. Brian |
