2. I hope you're correct that most people know the careers of both. I think most have heard of Sewell and at least know he's in the HOF, but even on this forum I would guess a good chunk are not familiar with Riggs, and that's unfortunate... he and Lefty O'Doul are the greatest hitters who aren't in the hall IMO (understandable with their short careers).
3. I'm guessing the $9.94 was for a new tire in 1954.
4. I have no idea why autographs with such a cool story and provenance are not worth significantly more than what they sell for... if Panini got their hands on it, they'd chop the signature in half, install it cockeyed into some terrible flashy card, slap a 1/1 stamp on it and it'd go for 10x on eBay. Glad to see it'll find a home on here instead of facing that demise.
