How many months/years will it sit there before the buyer receives it?

If this works out and the turn-around times are not ridiculous, this could be a good thing for both fleabay and PSA.

It'll be interesting to see how it works overall. What happens if the seller advertised the card as NrMt and it came back ALT (trimming). Does PSA slab it, send it to back to fleabay which would then have to invalidate the auction because PSA did not agree with the grade the seller advertised it as...

This may work out for them for awhile until the grades start popping. No way I'd waste money on grading based on eBay pictures alone.

Now, just have "no sales tax" and have it kept it in the psa vault.

Wonderful "collecting"

All fine until a buyer gets the card back and claims seller sent a different card…

Yeah, this. Leaving aside that I wouldn't submit to PSA these days anyways.

The article says that cards will be graded after they pass the authentication process which is supposed to be verifying the description was accurate including if the seller indicated the correct condition. It will be interesting to see if that really results in cards getting the grade sellers listed them as because if not, they shouldn't authenticate.

A seller lists and sells a card as NR-MT. The card is sent along to PSA who do not receive a slabbing fee unless it deems the card as NR-MT (or better). Is this correct? If so, then might PSA be inclined to 'soften' its grading standards in certain situations?

Agree.... PSA's conflict of interest is off the charts. Not that their grades mean anything anyway...

Will they be utilizing their 2010 standards, or their "2 points tougher" 2025 standards? Consistency is not exactly their thing, so what's to keep them from approving everything in sight? It's free revenue and profits, with no regulation or industry standards to keep them in check.

This ill-advised program is corrupt and tainted before it even starts.

+1. Although, if the flip is the commodity, as Peter Spaeth aptly noted, then this is a good thing for "investors" who want to take advantage of the greater fool theory. But I'm a noob "buy the card, not the flip" collector, so what do I know.

I agree with those who said this is a bad idea. I can’t see strict standards being upheld. PSA sold their business soul.

Some more info was provided about how this is going to work. Looks like the description of the card in the listing isn't going to guarantee that's the grade given even if it passes the authentication guarantee.

The one big question is what happens to the seller if the card is listed as one thing and PSA grades it lower? I wonder if the seller will be forced to refund the buyers money, or if the buyer will be forced to agree to terms of no refund unless the card is deemed altered or fake, in order to compete the purchase process.

That's the question of the day. They'd better put some kind of policy in place, or there will be massive returns and refunds.
